Happy Final Space Saturday! Updates! PRE-ORDER CUT-OFF – NOVEMBER 15TH While the novels are being printed, I’ve been working on trying to lock down a potential distribution deal. I’m calling it Operation: PIGGYBACK THROUGH A LOOPHOLE. Basically, if I piggyback off a shipment that @GungnirBooks buys from finalspaceends.com (since my contract requires me to sell through my site) to supply libraries and potentially bookstores, I could use Gungnir's distributor to ship out the pre-orders because they will be on the same shipment as the ones he has purchased. Since I’d already be in their system, they could then ship the pre-order novels out faster basically around the same time. It’s a wild plan and not confirmed yet, but if it works, it’d be huge. The shipping costs roughly balance out the same, since shipping has gotten worse out there in the world than two years ago, but this setup would also put all the taxes and duties on my side, not yours. The PRE-ORDER COLOR EDITION (switches to stock on November 15th) and the MIDNIGHT EDITION (only 490 left) will not be reprinted once they’re gone. The only copies that will exist after that will be the distribution cover designed specifically for libraries and bookstores. Much later if I decide to print all the expansions into one massive Definitive Edition when they’re complete the page count could go north of 700+ pages (still not confirmed). These are not Pokemon cards, you do not need to collect them all. If this deal goes through, there’s a good chance I’ll do a book tour, and your novel will be your ticket. I learned a ton through failing, redoing, and fixing… color, ink, indesign (rolls eyes) and everything in between. But I’m very happy with where it landed. It’s been a while since I’ve felt this kind of happiness about anything I've written or created. This is as good as I could possibly make it, truly. ANDOR writer Dan Gilroy has released a statement critiquing the Trump administration and commenting on the parallels between the show and Disney’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel. “As one of the writers on the Disney+ drama Andor, we spent six years thinking about a fascist takeover of a galaxy far, far away. Six years thinking about ordinary beings as an authoritarian regime comes in for the kill. Many people saw parallels between Andor and the real world. I see them as well, particularly in the events of the last week. Donald Trump’s tools of governance, coercion and intimidation, have found focus on Hollywood. Faced with a social media firestorm, fear, and an FCC head threatening “they can do this the easy way or hard way,” Disney suspended Jimmy Kimmel for speaking his mind. I deeply disagree but acknowledge it was a difficult decision. If you believe otherwise, wait until fate knocks on your door and demands you choose between conscience and hardship — because if you work in this industry that day is coming. The suspension bought time, but not much. Disney now stands at a crossroads: terminate Kimmel’s contract and become pavement for the road to a brave new Trumpian world; or stand for the First Amendment and take the onslaught. There’s not much at stake, just free speech, the oxygen that sustains life in this town. Trump’s aim is to control what we make and say. The concept seems far off and abstract. Neither is true. Trump just killed the H1B visa. Companies now have to pay $100K per year to bring foreign hi-skilled workers to the U.S. This will dissuade them from doing so, some jobs will be offshored. For Indian techies, the American dream just got killed.

Happy Final Space Friday! I’m about 80% through my color zazz pass on the Color Edition. It's all looking great! @daztibbles is polishing Part 7 and the color script looks SO DANG COOL! Midnight Edition test prints came in for all the pages, the matte feels great for B&W, but Color is 100% getting semi-gloss so it pops. Still debating matte vs semi-gloss cover for the color (maybe foil/UV spot title). Using Batman: Under the Red Hood as my blueprint love that 544-page feel. Happy Final Space Friday. So I think the Midnight Edition is pretty much done. I'm going to sit with it over the weekend (nothing is happening on the weekend anyway) and I'll do one more once over and then next week it's off to get samples made. (collapses) And then I start on building the Color Print file! Jake did give it another read and LOVED IT and really dug how full and crisp the color to black and white looked. He also liked the little pops of color along the way and then at the end. I'm exhausted but I'm happy with the how the Midnight Edition looks. Where getting there! Slowly but surely!
