In the midst of the debate around DACA, there's another group of foreigners facing an uncertain future that are often overlooked: Kids of H-1B holders.
Here's a story I wrote back in October on this issue: sfchronicle.com/business/art…
DOJ defending the 3 year OPT program is not enough. Indian students coming to study and then work in the US have NO PATHWAY TO A GREEN CARD right now if they apply in EB2 or EB3 category. Students are becoming more aware of US' archair #immigration rules. wsj.com/amp/articles/visas-i…
H-4 NEWS: According to a court doc filed late last night, DHS doesn't plan to submit a rule regarding the H-4 work authorization until June 2018 *** sfchronicle.com/business/art…
Eventually it's all about 💰. They know this will hurt international student enrollment, so who will pay the hefty international student fees? But take away EADs from the spouses waiting for Green Cards!
I would like to thank @SenMarkey for hosting our Framingham Town Hall this evening as well as everyone who came out and took part in this great event. Let us continue to persevere in our endeavors that make Massachusetts the greatest state in the nation!
The Trump administration’s plan to scrap H-4 visas is based on anti-immigrant sentiment. Period. Preventing spouses of H-1B visa holders from working will do nothing for wages or American workers.
That is because US has a country of birth quota for high skilled Green Card category, affecting Indians and Chinese primarily as most high skilled arrive from these 2 countries. Many have Masters and PhD from US universities but stuck in decades long GC backlog. Support S2344.
Met w/ group of highly skilled immigrant workers today, many holding advanced STEM field degrees from US schools & have lived in the US for many years, but may be facing a 70 year wait for their green cards.
#DACADreamers think 10yrs path to Citizenship is a lot of time .. Did you know that it takes 70+yrs for LEGAL Skilled Immigrants stuck in GREENCARD BACKLOG to get a Greencard ! I am 36 now, i will be DEAD by the time my turn comes !@SenateDems @SenateGOP@WhiteHouse#immigration
With work permits in limbo, spouses of H-1B visa holders worry they’ll lose jobs.
The Trump administration indicated it plans to end a work-authorization program tied to H-4 visas this year. st.news/2Fc3LfQ
Grateful to see @seattletimes spotlight the importance of the #H4EAD and why it is under threat. @rachelerman did a great job conveying the perspectives of spouses who are contributing to our economy. We strongly support maintaining this program. seattletimes.com/business/te…
The Fairness for Highly-Skilled Immigrants Act of 2017 ends absurd per-country cap on green cards & cut the enormous backlog for H-1B visa holders. A bipartisan bill; supported by more than 300 members of the House — a majority of Republicans & Democrats. sfchronicle.com/opinion/open…
