Japan surprised me. For one, it was so cheap - to eat, to travel around the city by public transport, to shop (the 10 % tax refund is a game-changer). I would love to go back and do a holiday. I’d book better hotels than the Asian Games organizers did though!
Just one example- had a Neopolitan pizza at a good restaurant, with a Coke Zero and a scoop of gelato (health food, I know 😂) in Nagoya. It cost 738 INR - mostly same prices everywhere..
Iran 52 medals, including 19 gold, in the midst of a devastating war..phenomenal! Met some athletes at the airport and the only way for them to fly was to Turkey and then hope airspace was open to allow Iran Air to fly them back home #AsianGamesNagoya
It’s tough to cover cricket when you have no commentary, a Chinese audio engineer who understands neither cricket nor English, no stats, a Chinese gfx operator, small lenses, and not enough replay sources 🙂
The #AsianGames#cricket event was one of the toughest I have worked on. We lacked most of what we take for granted anywhere in the world, but I came back and looked at the highlights and I thought we still made it look half-decent..
Unbelievable scenes in the women’s boxing where, after losing the women’s boxing final to India’s Parveen on a very narrow split decision, the Chinese Taipei boxer not only loses with her, but then hugs her and even lifts her off the mat. What a superstar! #AsianGames
Rest day in the cricket today, so thought about going to watch the women’s hockey final. The thought soon disappeared after I saw how long it would take to get there…😂
And there we have it #BANvMAS also washed out. The big 4 into the semis. It’s India v SL and Ban v Pak in the semis day after. Forecast is for bright and sunny weather from tomorrow onwards #AsianGames#cricket
