Sadly, Brian is right. This was a half measures season that hopefully got to 3rd WC. Stearns is not surprised by the record. He would not sign Alonso if given a redo. And if Cohen doesn’t get involved, next season is worse.
Lindor for Swanson? Stearns prob says yes.
Most of the offseason moves were acquisitions of 1-2 years
That’s as big a tell as any that this was always a transition year with the hope of remaining competitive

If the Mets pay one penny more than the Padres, the Free Agent will play for the Mets. Of course there are exceptions, but not one player is going to care about this. Hell I would bet 90% don’t even know it happened.

I respect the players for being angry. Now they know how we feel. In 2030, Stearns will try to move Benge/Ewing bc they will lose a few steps in 2038. Hopefully Cohen remembers this night and let us finally enjoy a homegrown player.
