Trump’s Oct. 5 order lets that dyed diesel on the road and defers the federal excise tax through year-end. No interest. No penalties. Treasury is also told to look at wiping the bill. Federal diesel tax is 24.4¢ a gallon. White House says truckers save $100+ a fill.
This is diesel, not pump gas. States set their own tax. Trump can defer the federal piece. He cannot cut yours.
