The covered period runs from Aug 29, 14:29 to Aug 30, 02:54 UTC (12.4 hours). The actual average borrow rate over this period was 25.7%, against a normal rate of 9.5%. We refunded the interest attributable to that 16.2 percentage-point difference. All amounts were rounded up to the nearest 1 USDC. Note on the recent yield spike in the Monad aHyper/USDC market TLDR: aHyper itself is unaffected. The market's interest rates are back to normal. The extra interest paid will be refunded for the sake of a healthy ecosystem, and a follow up announcement will go out within a week. Over the past few hours, someone repeatedly submitted transactions that use Morpho's ForceDeallocate function to move liquidity out of the aHyper/USDC market into idle. This mechanism exists to help users withdraw smoothly, but it was used maliciously to keep the interest rate on the aHyper/USDC market artificially high. monadscan.com/txs?a=0x210de9… The rate has now been brought back into its normal range through a direct supply. We are also putting vault level safeguards in place to prevent this kind of malicious activity, and they will take effect in three days due to the timelock. There has been no loss of principal and no other side effects. aHyper itself was not affected in any way. The only impact was the elevated interest rate over the past few hours. As a result, borrowers paid approximately 10,000 USDC more in interest than they otherwise would have. To support a healthy ecosystem, this extra interest will be refunded.
