Maryland is moving to do what I have been fighting to do in Virginia. I commend Governor Wes Moore for his common-sense call to end Maryland’s data center sales and use tax exemption. Here in Virginia, this exemption costs us $1.9 billion a year, and we have been asked to call that progress. Welcoming investment does not mean writing a blank check to some of the wealthiest companies in the world. I have fought to end this exemption from the beginning, and I will keep fighting until we do. When the General Assembly returns in January, I’ll be fighting to finally make this industry pay its fair share.
