Welcome ORGANA to Hood 3, the first District (7187.bitmap) to reinscribe content within this neighborhood, and the first to use the new Metadata features: - Name District - Set District Color - Directory - Bulletin Head to bitmap.land and visit Sector 0, Hood 3!

It's nice to finally be able to see and discover what is on the map. @BankofNFTs I've noticed some formatting issues I need to fix too, and I'm planning the next update, which will be Synergy focused.

🗺️ The Living Map 🗺️ A Birdseye view of content on bitmap.land. Content is now visible at all zoom levels on the sync'd map. On most maps, you have to zoom right in to get to the details. This has been the case with bitmap.land, but not anymore! Now, when you sync a Hood, the latest inscription within the Hood will be visible at a Birdseye view. It's a shame if you can't see the content on the map. But only one district inscription can occupy a space! This is how it works... First, sync the Hood you want to see from 🏘️ or with auto-sync. If a district content re-inscription is the only one within a Hood, that's what you will see at the highest zoomed out. Where there are multiple, the latest will be visible. As you zoom in, Hoods pop into more and more squares, using the Hilbert Curve algorithm, until we get to the closest zoom. At each Hilbert curve iteration, square ranges spit into smaller and smaller ranges until we reach individual Districts. The latest content within each square range content occupies that space, up to the closest iteration. As the Hoods sync, the content is loaded in the background, snapshotted, and stitched to each relevant iteration of the map. This allows us to maintain the smooth performance of the map whilst not compromising on how much we can display. Technically, the map that is drawn is a bitmap image. You can even right click and save the map like any web image! When zoomed out it looks like a puzzle set made of Hoods. You can conceive of playing a significant role in filling up the map by finding Districts in Hoods that don't yet have content. And even if you don't own a bitmap, you can have fun sync'ing the map and building it out on your own device! This is all happening in your indexDB. The only server is the one you use to access Ord! But you can run it on your local Ord node. Furthermore, running your own node allows you unlimited sync's. Now we finally have this really cool map on-chain, I'm super excited to develop it further, so that's what you can expect. I used to think Bitmap 🟧 was the metaverse, until I realised it’s the multiverse. Bitmap isn’t something that needs to be built, it is the build. The scaffolding is done, the terrain is mapped, the structure is complete. It’s not a metaverse, it’s the layer underneath them all. It’s the network. The raw logic. The shared language. A baked protocol of digital ground, no more speculation, no more waiting. Now, it’s about what gets built on top. From here, platforms will rise, metaverses built on-top of Bitmap, not within it. Each one offering its own culture, rules, aesthetics, and mechanics, but all of them rooted in the same soil. These platforms will be where bitmap holders plug in their districts and parcels, where their Bitmap becomes active, functional, expressive. Platforms are universal, they must cater to all Bitmap holders, regardless of who they are or what they believe in. But platforms alone aren’t enough. We also need applications, tools. Bitmap Applications (BAPPs) that let people actually do things. Create, collaborate, display, tokenise, interact, experiment. Just like shovels and pickaxes in a gold rush, these tools won’t be for everyone, but the right ones will unlock new worlds for those who use them. A musician might need a sound staging app. An architect might want a parcel scanner or layout visualizer. A builder might need a minting engine or media drop system. Not everyone will use the same stack and that’s the point. Bitmap 🟧

BIP-110 won't be adopted. Even if it somehow is, it's temporary (one year) and it can't touch existing inscriptions, only curtail new ones. And devs will dev: @kixunil already inscribed a 66KB image with no OP_RETURN to show the workaround is trivial. In his words: "Abstract: in this document I present a proof that several of the ambitious claims by Bitcoin Knots supporters are not true. Most notably, the claims about contiguous data. To prove this I stored over 66kB contiguous image file in the Bitcoin time chain without using OP_RETURN, Taproot or following policy rules and, to highlight the point, the image file is itself an entire transaction." GM ☀️ Each day, the block gets one step closer to becoming a reality. Now we are producing art directly from contracts. I don't know how much longer this will take, but I am working as fast as I can. A hilbert curve is a recursive algorithm, a means of storing 1-D data efficiently in multiple dimensions. In this case, three. I am fascinated by how raw blockchain data can come alive and take breath as art. So I am building a "block", a 3-D hilbert curve created entirely from the raw data onchain. Normies are only the starting point.

Here's why Bitcoin is a superior canvas for art: Immutable and onchain. Immutability means that no third party can ever alter your art. There are no smart contracts on Bitcoin, so your Ordinal is your Ordinal to keep, forever. It's also 100% onchain, so there are no pointers or centralized servers. Your Ordinal lives on your sat, and if it's stored in your wallet, that's where it remains. Inherits Bitcoin security. Since your Ordinal lives on Bitcoin, it enjoys the security afforded by the most secure chain in existence. Rare sats. The Ordinal protocol enabled each sat to be enumerated. This is how we get early inscriptions, but also the ability to trace the provenance of historical sats. For example, we can trace the Pizza Sats from when programmer Laszlo Hanyecz bought 2 pizzas with 10,000 BTC. We can buy those sats and inscribe whatever we want on them, creating an additional layer of gamification (e.g., @pizzaninjas). More fees for miners. With Ordinals pushing fees up to mine $BTC, miners have a greater incentive to continue mining. Attracts new users. Art on Bitcoin is a strong value proposition, especially for folks who know little about crypto but are interested in collecting digital art. No royalties. This is a drawback, and a major reason the ecosystem has been suffering. The largest Ordinals marketplace (MP) used to be Magic Eden, which owned roughly 90% of the volume at one point. All the fees generated were extracted. But thanks to new MPs like @ord_net, a small percentage of the fees are being returned to projects, so that they might be able to do more for their holders. (Let's see.) My biggest gripe with the Ordinals community has been how certain projects put each other down. The infighting is real clown shit, and it's not a good look for outsiders. Also putting down NFTs on other chains with snarky comments won't help onboard NFT enjoyers. It's offputting, and it's just not a smart strategy. (You don't see Nintendo clowning on PS5 and Xbox players.) If we want to onboard more folks, we need to do better.
