We created at
@quranlab_ai something that has been close to our hearts for a very long time: SAWT V6 Pro.
Millions of us grew up with the timeless voices of the great Quran reciters—Sheikh Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, Mohamed Siddiq El-Minshawi, and generations of beloved Imams whose recitations shaped our spiritual lives.
Yet, so much of this audio heritage is trapped in the past: decaying cassette tape hiss, cavernous mosque echoes, and decades of aggressive MP3 compression (recordings circulating online at 11 kHz or 32–64 kbps).
General-purpose audio enhancement and speech denoisers consistently fail when applied to Quranic recitation. They either strip the natural resonance and warmth of the voice, or worse, distort the sacred precision of Tajweed—mangling subtle rules like Ghunnah, Madd, and delicate breath transitions.
SAWT V6 Pro was built to solve this exact problem.
It is an audio restoration model engineered specifically for Quranic recitations. It doesn't generate synthetic voices; it surgically peels away decades of acoustic noise, low-bitrate compression artifacts, and harsh room acoustics, restoring the presence, clarity, and intimate warmth of the original recording—as if you were sitting directly in front of the reciter.
The Results:
On the DistillMOS scale (a learned perceptual quality score from 1 to 5):
• Sheikh Abdul Basit (Surah Yusuf): Source 11 kHz, 32 kbps MP3 jumped from 3.50 → 4.21
• Sheikh El-Minshawi (Surah Maryam): Source 22 kHz, 64 kbps MP3 jumped from 2.75 → 3.98
• Islam Sobhi (Surah Maryam): Source 128 kbps MP3 jumped from 2.39 → 3.92
• Raad Al-Kurdi (Surah Al-Insan): Jumped from 2.98 → 4.05
Beyond a Demo:
We didn't just want a showcase model. We have released:
1. The Interactive Gallery: Side-by-side, loudness-matched A/B comparisons across 12 reciters. (Put on headphones—the difference is night and day).
2. Restored Recitations Dataset: Complete Mushaf recordings and over 200 reciters on Hugging Face.
3. Live Demo: Test your own audio files directly through the Space.
This project is released for non-commercial use under the SAWT License 2.0. We hope this technology serves the Ummah, preserves our sacred audio heritage for generations to come, and brings listeners closer to the words of Allah.
