Rugby League correspondent & national media journalist. 26th season in press boxes across the country 🏉H

Congrats to @WTrinityRL if you would have asked me three years ago that they’d be @SuperLeague champs. I’d have said you’re off your head. Absolute fairytale. And hope to us all that it can be done. #Wire just didn’t get going.

Made up for Daryl Powell and @WTrinityRL One of the top guys in the game. Always has time for you. Interviewed him in all his roles and I hope they do it next week against Wire. Credit to Wakey owner too. Widnes were in a similar position years ago. We failed. They didn’t. 👏🏻

Be sad to see Jack go. He’s been a stalwart of the club for so long. I remember when he made his debut. The import at tries he scored as a man and boy. He should go with our full support and best wishes. There’s still a player there but I’m sure whatever he is doing, it’s 4’tbest
🏆Our first award of the evening is the Try of the Year Award, claimed by Jack Owens for finishing off a fantastic team move against Halifax.

Congrats to Paul Farrell and everyone at @WestBankbears. When you look at exemplary community clubs in the game, the name West Bank Bears will be pretty close to the top. Interviewed Paul many years ago for @WidnesRuncornWN and while all the big names have gone from the pro 1:2

Club, @WidnesRL - there’s people like Paul who have stood the test of time and have been around for a long time, dedicating a large portion of their life to the community game. Fitting tribute by the club and the mayor who came down to honour Paul. 🙌🏻💪🏻thanks to @sky_rugby for 📹

Could not have said it better Aaron. It’s been a pointless load of matches. Talk about player welfare. This system has been unnecessary and tedious. And a drain on fan’s cash.
It'll be Doncaster v Barrow and Widnes v Oldham again for the second time in three weeks next week in the Championship play-offs. An incredibly convoluted system that's spitting out repeat fixtures within a single play-off campaign.. needs binning. loverugbyleague.com/post/cha…

Superb result this for Widnes. Credit to the players to bounce back after disappointment of a final loss last week.
FT: THATS A BIG, BIG WIN!

On another note, please for JD. He loves Widnes and had some great years there. I was lucky to see it from close quarters under Ned.

Been a few hours since the final. Yes, London deserved it. They defended well at crucial moments. 2 things that turned it. Missed opportunity at 12-8 when Wid were on top. Dropped JJ fumble from dummy half. Decision to take 2. Not sure if it was bench or players. Score & it’s on

The good old days in Top of the Town nightclub in Widnes , great memories for so many I’m sure. Big Jim’s and Top of the Town was open for 28 years.

Here’s some news on the Abdull/Widnes situation. This has been on ice for some time and now it’s here. Thanks to @johnnyddavidson for publishing. I spoke to the player and he let me in on his side of the story. 👀 patreon.com/rugbyleaguelongr…

Great to see another Widnes lad make his @SuperLeague debut in Jack Campbell. Following in his dad’s footsteps. Chris was a talented winger for @WarringtonRLFC, he told me his son has top, top potential as a full back. Watch this space 👀

As I said earlier, nice bit of business for Widnes. Real opportunity for the lad to help his home town team
From Widnes. For Widnes 🤍 ✍️ We are excited to announce that hometown half-back Danny Richardson has arrived from York on a deal until the end of the season. Full story: shorturl.at/ehdWn

Richardson to Widnes is a smart bit of business. Great to see the lad back playing in his home town. If he can rediscover the form we know he’s got within him, then it could be a masterstroke. Time will tell. Super League experience. Only a few in the squad have got it.

Sad news. Interviewed John many times over the past 28 years. Always had time for you. Always got back to you. A big loss for the game. RIP
Widnes Vikings are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former head coach, John Kear. John was appointed head coach in June 2022 and spent a year with the club before departing in June 2023. He was one of rugby league's most respected and admired figures, whose passion for the game, leadership and unwavering commitment left a lasting impact wherever he coached. Once a Viking, always a Viking. Rest in peace, John 🤍 Tribute: shorturl.at/k1rvP

đź‘€ what did we say about Leon
🗣️“We’ll see a bit of rotation over the next month or so I’d say." Sam Burgess admits he will likely change up his @WarringtonRLFC across the coming weeks, with Leon Hayes close to the front of the queue for first-team opportunities 👇@warringtonnews warringtonguardian.co.uk/spo…
