India is quite the funny country. The Chief Justice of the country called youths who are jobless and chronically online “cockroaches”—a failure of the government, by the way, because if there were gainful employment, the youths wouldn't be jobless and ‘chronically online’ in the first place.
The youths, incensed by the insult, took it and ran with it. Most shockingly, they banded together, as though cockroaches were capable of such solidarity, and formed a party they named the Cockroach Janta Party. Today, that same party has become a voice of dissent in India, holding the government accountable and speaking out against Narendra Modi's high-handedness.
It is hilarious how one careless statement can bring people together and give them a common cause to fight for. I do wish Nigerian youths had done something similar when Buhari described us as lazy. Perhaps we could have come together and formed a Lazy Youths Party of our own. Who knows? Maybe, if we had, we might have prevented the scourge of Tinubu from ever happening.
