On April 28, 2026, I defended my PhD at Harvard.
I’m still in awe—of the moment and its meaning, the community that held me, and the grace that made it possible. God who began the good work carried it through. And I am so grateful for this.

Harvard & Pulse did a features on my journey, and it's especially beautiful that it centred not simply my research, but my faith. Curating the final details of a journey that will never stop reminding me of God’s grace and the ways our dreams come true.

Dear Tanzanian fans, I am terribly vexed at your behaviour. Terribly vexed because it is terribly despicable. Leave Ifeoma and Nigeria alone, and focus on cheering your own nation and representative. It's a competition, not war. And we are both Africa, eventually.

I’ve been reflecting on the gift of progress—how quietly it comes, little by little, often before we even realise it. I wrote this for anyone wondering where they are or what lies ahead: don't forget to notice how far you’ve already come.❤

Last night I wondered about the young lady who had the encounter with Mr Tony Elumelu. I hope she’s okay. I hope she’s okay, and able to laugh about it all soon enough. That’s all that matters at this point: that she’s okay and able to move past it, with meaningful lessons along.
I’m looking forward to bringing my work on wellbeing in Africa, economic change, and global political economy into the classroom—and to learning alongside my students.
Here’s to a new chapter. 🤍

Psalms 126:1-4
These two lines: Dunsin's "Leave me at the altar with my Father ... I brought myself, I am Your worship” and TY Bello's "It is my heart that is bowing down.”
When we pause to feel what they mean, the posture they speak of, we might be hit again by just the awe of true worship.
I graduated from #Harvard with a PhD in May. It still feels like a dream. I’m grateful to the shy little girl who dared to dream, who inspired me to go farther than I ever saw. I’ll never be able to shake off the weight of this moment. God truly is the Sustainer of our #dreams.
I graduated with my PhD from #harvard in May. I will never be able to shake off the weight of this moment. Little Anwuli, 17 years ago you gave me a dream. Thank you for daring to dream. It came true Anwuli, it came true.
To everyone who came on this journey with me, thank you, thank you, thank you, from the depths of my heart. And I am grateful to God, because He showed me that He listened to the dreams I had as a little girl, and He carried them for me in His loving arms.

For everyone who’s ever dreamed, and for every little child whose heart needs a little story to remind them of how precious their dreams are, I genuinely hope this gives you some encouragement, and inspires your heart in many beautiful ways.

I wasn’t sure whether to share this here; Twitter can be an intense space.
But I’m leaving it in honour of God’s grace, and for anyone who might find encouragement in it.
Looking forward to the Economic History Society’s annual conference this weekend, and to sharing my work on the historical indices of poverty in Southern Nigeria.

Thank you The Dial, for sharing our experiences. These experiences and their effects have continued to affect many communities and families in more ways than we could imagine.
Nigeria’s catastrophic flood in 2022 left many communities struggling for survival. Other communities were completely washed away. In our Rivers issue, @ifeosaa examines destruction—and the systems complicit in it: thedial.world/issue-6/nigeri…
Yesterday was the International Day of the African Child. We also officially began our Hope Learning Project yesterday. All of us at the SOH Hope Family celebrate every African child all around the world.
May they be given the spaces to be inspired and nurtured without limitations, and may they each be allowed to lead lives that remind them of the validity of their hopes and all of their dreams.
