The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max score a provisional 7/10 for repairability. Here's why. 🪛
✅ The battery tray is held in by 13 screws, so there's no battery adhesive to fight
✅ Camera modules are easy to remove
✅ The front camera array lifts out with no screws or glue
❌ Nearly every repair goes through the glued-down screen
❌ The display's plastic frame cracked on three of the four phones we opened

The iPhone 18 Pro Max’s internal battery isn’t directly glued to the phone’s body. Instead, it’s attached to the mid-frame, meaning that when the battery needs to be replaced, the entire mid-frame is replaced as a unit, with a new battery already attached.

The midframe of the iPhone 18 Pro does not need to be replaced during a standard battery replacement. It uses electrically-activated debonding adhesive that completely releases when a low-voltage DC current is applied to the dedicated contact tabs.
