. @RwijaeSamson "Police in Kazo District have made a breakthrough in the investigation into a tragic incident involving murder, attempted murder and aggravated robbery at Kagasha 1 Cell, Nkungu Parish, Nkungu Sub-county, Kazo District. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of 25 September 2026, resulted in the death of three people, while two others sustained serious injuries. The deceased have been identified as Ntegyerize Afusa, aged 47, and two juveniles, Tumuramye Sudais, aged 14, and Nuwandinda Asifa, aged 11. Preliminary investigations indicate that the assailants were acting on information that the deceased had received approximately UGX 1.5 million, which was reportedly kept in her room. As part of the investigations, Police deployed a sniffer dog, which picked up a scent from the scene and led detectives to Nuwamanya Christopher, who was arrested. The suspect has been identified as Nsamba Vincent, 41, who was apprehended following investigations into the circumstances surrounding the musician’s death. Nsamba was arrested in Ochange Ward, Yesu Amala, Nansana Division, Wakiso District. Investigations into the murder are ongoing, with police working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring all those responsible to justice.

. @mkituuma "Police, working jointly with sister security agencies, have arrested three suspects in connection with the kidnapping of two children from Bujowali Zone, Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District today 17 sept 2026. The first two suspects arrested are Odongo Richard and Derick Nkuruziza. A firearm, suspected to have been used in the commission of criminal activities, was recovered during the operation. The joint security team has also arrested Kasaija Dan, alleged to be the overall commander of the group and to have been receiving and withdrawing ransom money in Kampala. The case arose on 7 September 2026 at about 7:00 p.m., when two armed and masked men allegedly attacked the home of Mr Mugabanya in Bujowali Zone while he was away. The children were reportedly watching television under the care of domestic workers at the time. The assailants allegedly injured the domestic workers as they raised alarm, confined them in a bedroom, and fled with two of the children. The Inspector General of Police, @igp_ug1 , today launched the Uganda Police Force Block-Making Project, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening the Force’s capacity to provide improved and sustainable accommodation for its personnel. The initiative is designed to promote in-house production of construction materials, beginning with the manufacture of building blocks for Police infrastructure. In the long term, the project will be rolled out across the country to support the construction and improvement of Police accommodation, office space and address the longstanding housing challenges faced by officers. As part of the initiative, the IGP also laid a foundation stone for the construction of improved housing infrastructure at Nsambya Police Barracks, marking the beginning of a broader effort to transform Police accommodation facilities. Addressing officers, the IGP emphasised that the initiative is primarily focused on enhancing the welfare, living conditions and overall standards of accommodation for Police personnel. He noted that providing officers with decent and conducive living conditions is essential to their wellbeing, morale and effective service to the public. The IGP was accompanied by members of the Police Top Advisory Committee (PAC), including the Deputy Inspector General of Police, James Ocaya, and various Directors.

The Inspector General of Police, @igp_ug1, during his visit to Nsambya Barracks, toured the K9 Unit, where he commended the team, led by CP Martin Mugume, for its outstanding work in training and breeding K9 dogs. In a continued effort to improve the living conditions and welfare of police officers, the Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba, today inspected the Police Barracks at Nsambya, Kampala. The IGP was accompanied by several senior officers, including the Director of Health Services, AIGP Dr. Moses Byaruhanga, and the Under Secretary, Mr. Aggrey Wunyi, among other senior officers. The Inspector General of Police, @igp_ug1 , this afternoon addressed a meeting of Local Government and City leaders organised by the Ministry of Local Government at Imperial Hotel, Kampala. In his remarks, the IGP urged the leaders to support and take ownership of policing initiatives, particularly the Sub-County Policing Model, noting that effective policing requires strong partnerships between the Police and local leadership. He called upon the leaders to work collectively to enhance service delivery and to ensure that security considerations are integrated into all development planning and implementation frameworks. The IGP further urged local governments to prioritise security in urban planning by designing well-structured urban layouts, approving building plans that incorporate safety measures, and constructing markets with anti-crime infrastructure. He noted that this approach aligns with the Area Policing Concept currently being rolled out across the country to enable a faster and more effective response to crime and emergencies. He emphasised that close collaboration between the Police and local governments is essential in addressing emerging security challenges, including agricultural crime, urban crime, domestic violence, cybercrime, alcohol and drug abuse, and land-related conflicts. The Inspector General of Police concluded by thanking the Minister of Local Government, Hon. @BalaamBarugahar , for the opportunity to address the leaders and reaffirmed the Uganda Police Force's commitment to working closely with local governments to promote peace, security, and sustainable development.

Expressing his satisfaction with the visit, Hon. Prof. Kamuntu said: «"We came, we saw, and we have appreciated. I am pleased with what I have seen in the Uganda Police Force. If the Force is well-equipped, well-trained, and adequately facilitated, it can achieve the security aspirations of this country."» The Minister pledged his full support to the Uganda Police Force, particularly in strengthening crime prevention, improving the welfare of personnel, and enhancing career development through timely promotions.
