I’m one of the Black professors on Kirk’s watchlist of professors he smeared and wanted to have fired. How is that doing things exactly the right way? Grieve his death, yes. But don’t whitewash his life.
Ezra got this one exactly right, and a lot of you are betraying a total inability to tell the difference between "this person went about the process of advocating for his beliefs in the right way" and "his beliefs are correct."

Some of these new “fans” of Clark have been so nasty, they’ve gone after Clark’s teammates in ugly, nasty and racist ways. That should not be tolerated. You used to know that.
Some will be angry I reposted this. But there is a reason I did: I’m hearing some of the same things in my reporting since A’ja went after a fan. Bottom line: there is a palpable realization (finally) that Cathy Engelbert’s WNBA looks ridiculous pushing away/not wanting new fans.

Before Jackie Robinson, how many Black players were in MLB? None. Before Caitlin Clark, how many white players had made WNBA All-Star teams, been named MVP, been champions and put in the GOAT debate? A lot.

Y’all are so weird.
Had zero idea who A’ja Wilson was before 2024. My introduction was seeing Caitlin and her fans getting attacked because Caitlin got a shoe from Nike, and A’ja hadn’t told anyone she had one too. She let everyone believe she didn’t have a deal, and even built a campaign with Nike around the hate. She openly says she thrives off of being petty. She’s the best WBB player in the world, but stop telling Caitlin fans they don’t have every right to dislike her.

This is bullshit in the extreme. There is a legion of supposed Caitlin Clark fans who really are nasty and, yes, racist, who seem to want the entire league changed into her image. (I’m not talking about real CC fans, which I am one.) It’s weird. It’s off putting. 1/
Again. The lack of self awareness is crazy. Y’all have spent the past 3+ years telling all these people they aren’t wanted in this league. Calling them horrible names. Telling them they are racist trash. Saying they are violent and abusive. Lying about them. Players have manufactured bullshit to smear them. Media continually perpetuates the nonsense. Telling them they aren’t welcome. And then you bitch and moan and act confused when they don’t want to take part.

When I got really excited about hockey for a minute with what New York was doing way back in the ‘90s, I did not have the expectation that everything should change because I loved that team, or for me. I was happy to join in on the fun and learn. That’s not what’s happening now.

Lots of us started watching and talking about golf because of Tiger. He made all golfers richer. Even after left and many of us fans stopped watched, the subsequent players still benefit from him. I’m happy about that. CC fans to only want her to thrive, not the league.

We just released a short film on our investigation into the U.S. bombing of the Minab school in Iran in the opening hours of the war on February 28,2026. The stories survivors, parents, first responders and others shared with us will forever haunt me. youtu.be/9OmK0oeq5fc?si=UuIU…

Mr. Moral.
The evidence in the Cornell 7 case demonstrates clearly that Jane Doe engaged in promiscuous and disgusting sexual behavior (as did the men), was embarrassed by it, and then changed her story to allege rape. That’s not now rape law works. But now the NY governor is unleashing mob justice on the men.

It’s also not in the normal course of life that one young woman is alone in a frat house room for hours on in with a rotating number of young men using her for their sexual gratification.
Replying to @ijbailey
People don't sign over their houses to others in the normal course of life. They do have sex. If a woman asks her drunk date to buy her a very expensive necklace & he does, it may be shitty but he'd be laughed out of the police station if he tried to file a robbery charge.

This wasn’t just a typical case of irresponsible sex among immature college students. That happens. That’s not criminal, even if regrettable afterwards. That’s not this case. And it’s not even close.

These tweets from a decade and a half ago? As a teenager? I wouldn't fire someone today for this.
The Trail Blazers have parted ways with newly hired TV play-by-play announcer Braiden Bell after old racist tweets he posted as a teenager resurfaced, per @ChrisBHaynes

I think the Trail Blazers, who have the legal right to do this, should reverse this decision nonetheless. It helps no one.

Those young men were wrong. Full stop. And in my humble opinion, those actions in those circumstances should be deemed criminal. That's not about suddenly trying everyone who had sex with someone who had a drink. That's a straw man. 6/

Our system should expect young men in that situation to have to prove that consent was real, or even possible, rather than putting the burden totally on Jane Doe. They did not have to do those things to her. 11/

Asking people to protect the vulnerable in their midst isn't to say adults don't have agency or shouldn't make wise decisions. It is to say we should want a world where the instinct is to help, not take advantage of. 12/

The protection of others is core to who we are as human beings. Or it's supposed to be. That's why strangers help strangers even when it might mean sacrificing their own lives. That's not patronizing anyway. That's being human. Or it should be. 4/

We know this in most situations, and agree with it, and it's not even a debate. But when a young woman makes a series of bad decisions, we suddenly pretend that protecting her in a situation like that instead of abusing her is not to be expected. I reject that out of hand. 5/
