i have been thinking about this a lot recently. i have a lot of friends who claim to be very anti gen AI, but are still playing aniimo and aion 2. by all means, play what you wish, but do not claim to be against gen ai whilst your favourite game uses it. boycotting gen ai means going without, it means being inconvenienced. i am incredibly bummed that both aniimo and aion 2 use gen ai. i was so, so excited to play it, but i cannot (in good faith) play two new games that have used assets made from gen ai when i have so many artists as friends. companies need to pay for real artists to create their game. yes, it will be expensive, but that is what happens in game development, ESPECIALLY when you’re aiming to make something revolutionary. like i said, please play what you wish, but stand on what you say. if you are anti gen ai, be anti gen ai. do not be temporarily anti gen ai until it inconveniences you.
