When you turn on read-only mode, all queries from your app continue to work, but writes will pause.
This lets you run your changes, then you click the button again, and bam, your app is back to accepting writes.

Your machines will be aware of each other, so things like live cursors and shared presence will work out of the box no matter what machine each user is connected to.
