India is building a stronger, more self-reliant upstream petroleum sector under the leadership of PM Sh @narendramodi Ji, advancing its journey towards energy security. Pleased to join industry leaders and senior officials of @PetroleumMin at the signing of contracts for the Special Coal Bed Methane (CBM) Bid Rounds 2025 and 2026 today, alongwith the launch of the India Hydrocarbon Outlook 2026, which marks a renewed push for unconventional gas exploration. With an estimated CBM resource base of 2,600 BCM, India has significant potential to boost domestic production. India’s domestic hydrocarbon production will receive a boost through the visionary Samudra Manthan programme, launched by PM Modi Ji, which aims to unlock offshore resources through new seismic surveys, shared drilling costs for around 60 deep- and ultra-deep-water wells, and common offshore infrastructure.
