She lived like that for OVER A YEAR. Police were called 50 TIMES before she died. Nothing happened. The women who were her "caretakers" were arrested 10 PREVIOUS TIMES. Police say a 22-year-old man named Stephen Ross walked up, grabbed a knife right off the store's own shelf, and st*bbed her over and over. Her side. Her stomach. Her back. Twelve times, her daughter says. Police say it was COMPLETELY random. Completely unprovoked. She did not know this man. He just… picked her. Phyllis was put into an induced coma. She's in the ICU fighting for her life. "I hold her hand. I cleaned her fingernails because she had residue from bl00d under her nails." Police say Ross lived in a group home half a mile away. Turns out... he was charged previously in 2024 for assault and battery and was LET OUT into a group home and allowed to wander the streets. And a 63-year-old social worker is now in an induced coma because that danger was walking free in a Dollar Tree. He's charged with assault with intent to m*rder. GOOD. Her name was Susan Gehrke, she was 61 year old. She BEAT CANCER TWICE only to be BEATEN TO DE*TH by a Black man... just because she opened her door. The attackers name was Dahseir Jefferson, he also brutally assaulted another person, sending him to the hospital in critical condition too. Jefferson has an extremely long and very violent history of charges. He was sentenced to five years in prison in February 2021 and was released EARLY in October 2024. Susan's family said they were upset Jefferson was out and able to commit the crime against their loved one in the first place. “How many innocent people and family members have to be taken before the state figures out that you can’t rehabilitate people like this?” said Frankie Zills.
