"Steppin' Out" was inspired by the excitement of New York nightlife after Joe Jackson moved there following his divorce. The sophisticated synth-pop classic became his biggest US hit, peaking at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning Grammy nominations for Record of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
The song found a new audience decades later after being featured on the Flash FM radio station in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002). It later reappeared in Grand Theft Auto V/ GTA Online on Los Santos Underground Radio (as part of The Black Madonna’s set), introducing its sleek 1980s sound to yet another generation of players.

Last month, I co-judged an episode of @itshollis' @hookedsessions at The Eighth Room. Grateful for the ask.
Fascinatingly enough, though, I've conducted nearly 10,000 artist interviews and have probably hosted roughly 1,000 red carpets and panels, I still find it amazing that very few people have ever actually seen me do what I do, how I do it, workwise, in real time.
It always heartens me to see independent artists at all levels and moments of the journey. My greatest hope, as with any artist interaction that I'm blessed to have, is to make their next step easier or lighter than their last one.
