The average of polls in 2016 showed Clinton ahead of Trump by 3.2 percentage points. The actual election results had Clinton ahead of Trump by 2.1 percentage points. The polls were quite accurate, in other words. These people misremember history.

This is why the elections are a surprise for the pollsters (not the conservatives.) If you can’t find enough republicans to answer your questions, your results are going to skew heavily towards the left, giving that population an increased sense of false security. Remember Hillary versus Trump in 2016? No trump supporter answered those polls, and if I’m not mistaken, HRC was prognosticated as a 97% chance of a shoe-in victory. I’ll never forget the look on Chris Wallace’s face when he finally said that “Trump may actually get elected…” Priceless, simply priceless…

this is the week every republican will start running away from the iran war. free ball for reporters who love the hypocrisy beat. time to hammer 20 years of iran warmongering against rogers's new position that the war must end. ask him why he lied like netenyahu that iran "was abt to have nukes" for 20 yrs ask him why he thought the war worth it only a couple months ago ask him why he said hed sign a congressional auth for trump only a couple weeks ago why change your position on iran now? are they no longer moments away from nukes? why say the iran wars impact on gas prices are no longer a cost youre willing to bear?

Zohran Mamdani is the son of a Marxist intellectual. He is a leftist engaged in the project of bringing radical politics into the mainstream and having a practical impact. Opportunists like Easton can't even conceive of a principled politics like this.
It is a massive failure of the New York Democratic Party establishment that this man felt the only way he could be ambitious and deliver on his values was by aligning with DSA. This is how Democrats—regardless of ideological stripe—should sound.

The people here *are* many of the people actively responding to ICE, trying to keep Congress from messing with DC’s budget, protesting the national guard, and pushing back against DOGE cuts. If people outside of DC cared to see us as our own place, they might know that.
NOW: Protesters march to encircle and symbolically protect Kennedy Center from Trump renaming or demolishing the building.

There are not but two sides in this. For decades, the watchword of the working-class movement - which is to say, the left - has been "Which side are you on?" This woman has chosen a side. I wonder if she's happy with it.

People getting mad at this one. I didn’t say I hate the Kennedy Center or it doesn’t matter. But where are these people for the gas prices, the Iran war, the genocide, the AI, or ICE? Chill

people chalking this up as a hit piece haven't read it. this profile is about how natural Gaza advocacy is for Ms Rachel and demonstrates how it's put her at considerable risk, which leaves her stressed but undeterred. It's a good profile.
This might be the hardest story I've ever written. Ms. Rachel is one of the biggest children's entertainers in the world. She's drawn outrage and adoration for her stance on Gaza — but can her private life survive the public scrutiny? rollingstone.com/culture/cul…

Columbia University not only failed in its obligation to keep its students safe, it actively betrayed Mahmoud, leaving him vulnerable to the whims of an administration that weaponized the very same Palestinian exception to target immigrants. I am, as always, proud of my friend for taking the hard road and fighting for justice.
Today, I am filing a lawsuit against Columbia University and SIPA Dean Keren Yarhi-Milo for their gross and systemic discrimination against Palestinian students at Columbia. I am joined in this action by my friends at the Palestine Working Group. Columbia laid the groundwork for my targeting by the Trump administration through its deliberate indifference and discrimination aimed at intimidating Palestinian students. For over two years, we pleaded with Columbia. Columbia did not care. Our safety and our wellbeing did not serve the ideological project its Board of Trustees was protecting, so they traded us away. We are suing because no student should ever have to go through the hell Columbia put us through all these years. I will continue to seek accountability for all the wrongs that were done to me and my peers. Next, I will turn to the hateful individuals at Columbia who were also responsible for what we endured. Stay tuned. nytimes.com/2026/09/14/nyreg…

On this website, of late, I have been getting blocked when I point out that someone doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about. For instance, this neo-LaRoucheite dipshit was upset when I demonstrated that he doesn't understand how picketlines work.

We really shouldn't have to share the earth with the kind of scum who would do this.
The White House unveils new video games on their website where players can deport and terrorize families with ICE.

This fey limey dipshit is the son of a Gramsci scholar, but in true British fashion, he shows his ass at the slightest opportunity, barely concealing his aggressive English chauvinism behind a "humanitarian" facade.
Well done, Prime Minister. Greece supported Milosevic's aggression and genocide throughout the 1990s, and mercilessly bullied Macedonia for decades to change its name. It breaks sanctions on Russia and won't recognise Kosovo's independence. It violates the rights of its Turkish and Macedonian minorities, refusing to recognise their ethnic existence and defying ECHR rulings concerning them. It absolutely should not get the Elgin Marbles back until it mends its ways. ft.com/content/7783b779-7ed5…

The Parthenon Marbles are the "Elgin Marbles" in Hoare's parlance, because he thinks they're the property of the family that defaced the Parthenon and burnt down the Old Summer Palace.

AIPAC and other big money operations combined to spend roughly $100 million to elect Haley Stevens, Angie Craig, and Janet Mills. Instead, they’re getting Abdul El-Sayed, Peggy Flanagan, and Troy Jackson. Which is also 3 more votes for Chris Van Hollen, whom AIPAC is openly warring with.

I have nothing but love for the average Michigan voter no matter how they voted, but I will forever despise the rich white ladies who used their 'feminism' or 'gun control advocacy' to smear a Muslim man as 'sexist' all for the cause of a genocidal foreign country

So much of the media coverage of Abdul El-Sayed vs Haley Stevens emphasizes Israel policy in the context of how it makes American Jews feel. What about how it makes Arab Americans feel? We spend our entire lives watching our native countries and relatives get bombed, occupied and dragged through the racist mud by elected officials and media. And then we’re smeared in the U.S. as bigots for opposing it. If Abdul wins, it will be a watershed moment for Arab Americans. To have a U.S. senator who makes challenging the machinery that enables and justifies genocide in the Middle East a central part of his politics goes beyond mere representation. This guy is willing to confront the system that has murdered and dehumanized our communities for generations. Feels big.

The end of the end of history. The Economist now sees Leninism as the reason for China’s competitiveness. Wasn’t a whole-of-state approach supposed to be doomed? China’s escape from shock therapy was the first existential blow to neoliberalism. This is the nail in its coffin.
"MOFCOM is correct, China is competitive. But what foreign firms compete against isn't just supple, hard-driving Chinese firms but a whole-of-state approach to industry. Foreign firms stand little chance against a Leninist developmental state of China’s size, wealth & modernity"
