The only real lesson of the second pink tide's failure is "DO NOT elect a leftist president without a leftist legislative majority", everything else is genuinely trivial

AMLO (then Sheinbaum) succeeded where Boric, Petro, X. Castro, Castillo, probably Lula and certainly Ar茅valo failed, for AMLO entered office with a left-wing legislative majority and all of the others entered office with right-of-center legislative majorities

The same can be applied to Biden and Carney. Biden technically had a majority but Manchin and Sinema essentially made the Senate unworkable for most issues. Carney passed some last minute changes to save the election.

This makes no sense btw, lula and Dilma never had a legislative majority and they got reelected much easier then what Lula is dealing with now, the issue is that Lula and the other pink tide leaders just governed like ass or has too much pressure everywhere/campaigned badly

Petro was more successful at implementing leftist/ecosocialist goals. Morena are good at winning elections but they're slopulist social democrats doubling down on fossil fuels, and inflating the role of the military. Still better then 99% of governments in the world but still.

Isn鈥檛 Lula leading? He was also wildly successful in his first term and very much lacked a legislative majority then

Furthermore, the executive is legally stronger in Mexico than in most South American countries.
