Creativity isn’t something that can be forced or optimized
It springs out of you like water from a well
You don’t create the water
You just give it the conditions for it to flow
The greatest ideas come through you, not from you
Read about the lives of history’s greatest artists, writers, and inventors
They describe ideas coming to them as if they were received, not consciously manufactured
Why?
Because human beings are vessels
But being a vessel doesn’t mean everything that flows through you is divine
This is where most modern spirituality gets naive
It assumes anything supernatural or transcendent is inherently good
Look at how many musicians, celebrities, and spiritual gurus have meteoric rises followed by catastrophic falls
I believe many are guided by something beyond themselves that feeds on their pride, helps them gain power and influence, and eventually consumes them
But when you surrender to the Highest Source (the Holy Spirit), it’s no longer about pride or glorifying yourself
It becomes an act of service
Of letting go of what you want and asking God what the world needs from you
So how do you become more creative?
Clean the vessel
Remove the pride, lust, and fear that keep you from becoming a clear vessel for God
Become quiet enough to hear
Humble enough to receive
Courageous enough to act and create
And surrendered enough to give the glory to God when you succeed
