Big day for @IJ testifying about ALPR abuse at the Senate today.

Thanks to @IJ and the hard work of my colleagues Jaba, @jaredmcclain and @windyjosh92, @DHS can't: 1. Enter a construction site without a warrant; 2. Detain people without suspicion; or 3. Continue detaining anyone who has evidence of citizenship or lawful presence like REAL ID.

Federal Judge Orders ICE to Follow Constitution

Guess who just defeated qualified immunity again? @IJ and our client, Mario! In Rosales v. Lewis, cops stopped Mario without legal justification, extended the stop, patted him down, and searched his pockets. Today, the 5th Cir. held that all violated clearly established law.

A federal court has ordered immigration officers in Alabama to stop warrantless raids of private construction sites and to stop detaining workers without individualized suspicion. The ruling comes after construction worker and U.S. citizen Leo Garcia Venegas was detained 3 times—even though he repeatedly presented a state-issued REAL ID. 🧵

I have the absolute best job. I'm so happy for our client Leo, who fought back after being unlawfully detained twice (and then a third mid-litigation). And I'm so thankful that my first time taking testimony in court was fighting for him.

Significant lawsuit victory in Alabama, following a lawsuit brought by a Latino U.S. citizen who was detained and questioned by ICE three separate times.

“This decision is a huge blow to DHS’s lawless enforcement practices,” said IJ Sr. Attorney Jared McClain (@jaredmcclain). “The government stood up in court and argued that they don’t need warrants to enter private construction sites and round up all the workers, and that they can’t trust government-issued IDs. By setting aside those unconstitutional policies, the court has restored the rule of law. We just received Flock's....I mean San Jose's reply in @IJ's ALPR case. They claim cities may install cameras on every corner and fly drones overhead so as to 100% track you whenever you are outside, and that the 4th Amendment has nothing to say about it.

Wait, I thought sampling on the dependent variable was bad practice. Is your study dishonest too?
