People used to compare (they still do) All American to Swagger and both shows are very different. I don’t think comparisons are bad, I just think we should allow shows to shine on their own, especially when there’s little in common.

Let young Black girls on shows be annoying and indecisive and messy and complicated and confused. And all the damn nuance things. White women characters get to be messy but the moment it’s a Black girl suddenly she’s the worst and annoying. As if you had it all together at 18.
