This image breaks me. At 2.7 degrees of warming, which is our present policy trajectory, two billion people will be exposed to extreme heat. 99.7% of those people live in the global South. People who have done nothing to cause this crisis. The injustice is staggering.

Here's what MAT>29 means in terms of a) number of days with max temps over 40C, and b) number of days with wet bulb temps above 28C.

Yes, Southern Europe and other regions shaded grey here will face extreme heat at 2.7C (and already are even at 1.2C). Grey does not mean OK. This study is focused on serious extremes, like 80+ days per year with max temps above 40C.

I should say: for most of the affected countries, their cumulative emissions are still within their fair-share of the safe planetary boundary of 350ppm concentration of atmospheric CO2. (This map updates this study to 2019: sciencedirect.com/science/ar…)

Everyone is sick of hearing about it. It’s summer. It’s hot. It’s fine.

Agreed. (And if you widen the boundaries further, that 2 billion is expanded via many future generations of humans and trillions of animals/birds/creatures). Yet the economic energy metabolism continues space. New ATHs in global coal consumption…

Our countries are forced to destroy ecosystems to extract the minerals ("critical minerals") that the northern hemisphere needs, this is an immense injustice

...and the worst is that the vast majority, even at the most optimistic development scenarios, will still have no fridge, let alone air conditioning!

What? What kind of picture of the world do you have? Do you think people around the equator run around with spears and live in huts made of straw and clay? They use oil just as much as anyone.

Based on crooked computer modelling. Climate crisis is a scam to try and get people to accept communism.

So if we buy absolution from the church of climate hysteria we are fine, right?

Stop lying. Since 1760 the earth warmed up 1C. Last 20 years have shown no heating and some suggest the earth will cool down, due to growing permafrost is the north.

50 trillion dollars would not have made a dent in this graph. Nor does our CO2.

As my Generation was part of it, I do feel very much ashamed. For decades I thought the Generation of my parents would start to do something or it would be enough if I do my share and teach others how they could do something to slow down climate change. But it wasn’t.

No. They’re humans and responsible as well. Climate change is roughly 50% due to ecocide & replacement with agriculture. Agriculture is proportional to population and the most ecologically destructive of our needs.

Most vulnerable and you want them to stay that way by restricting them from industrialization. Ridiculous. Tropical climates are populous because they are most survivable.

And the difference lowering out emissions from 1% to a fraction of this will make?

That map doesn't look right to me. For one thing, it's colouring by country; I'm fairly sure, for example, that the far south of Brazil won't suffer like the north of Brazil. And the southern states of USA will be in the "almost uninhabitable" zone.

Now do exposure to cold, which kills several times more people each year.
