Happy Saturday Jackets, countdown to kickoff “rambles on” and we’re at a special 19 days away. If you’re a tech fan, knowing that number is crucial because it’s the only one to be retired in Georgia Tech football history and probably will be that way for a long long time.
19 was the number of Freshman qb Clint Castleberry, who was a heisman finalist in his freshman year at Tech in 1942. Born on the 10th of Oct 1923 in Atlanta, Georgia where he attended Boys High ( The same school as my Grandfather).
Clint honorably joined the Military the following year to fight in WW2, but was tragically shot down in Liberia, where he’s still buried to this day. There’s not enough room to describe how amazing this man was, he was the heisman favorite for the 43 season, but chose duty and patriotism over his own ambitions, like many who sacrificed their lives fighting evil to this day.

@WesDurham, it’s an amazing story, I’ll drop a link below.
Here’s the last sentence from Durham’s article: “There were heroes before and have been heroes since, but for Georgia Tech, nobody has captured the football fantasy of a country for one season, like #19.”
🫡 to #19 🇺🇸
