Has AI gotten to the game dev community now??

Notice the increase in animations each year they just add to it…the unlock to AAA games is models and animation, not the coding, not the accessories. You unlock that and everything changes
How much of NBA 2K27 is older 2K? From our research, here's what we found, starting with 2K11: 2K11: 2,284 animation clips, plus intro animations like the anthem, the hallway walk and the garage bus 2K12: 1,272 animation clips, an intro animation with star players, and a 2K12 developer tools 2K13: 1,060 animation clips, pregame crowd hype and tip-off intros, and the text "Welcome to NBA 2K13!", which nothing in the game uses 2K14: 4,368 animation clips, 22 facial expressions and a menu background named after 2K14 2K15: 4,682 animation clips, 14 facial expressions and the "2K15 Scoring Rules" throwback rule set 2K16: 6,746 animation clips, 39 facial expressions and an arena background named after 2K16 2K17: 8,852 animation clips, the Old Town, Sunset and Rivet parks set up as 2K27 Park locations, and game faces for Draymond and Dame 2K18: 6,780 animation clips, game faces for Curry, Harden, Giannis and Kyrie, and a head-scan message telling you to use the MyNBA2K18 app 2K19: 8,342 animation clips, 53 facial expressions, an All-Star draft story chapter and a chasedown block social feed event 2K20: 8,018 animation clips, 20 story scenes including pregame jump balls, and a fake social post: "MyLEAGUE and MyGM are my favorite modes in 2K20" 2K21: 8,916 animation clips, 222 facial expressions, WNBA front office story chapters and Park landing sounds 2K22: 10,286 animation clips, 47 facial expressions, 22 ring ceremony scenes and zipline sounds 2K23: 10,796 animation clips, 466 AI play calls, Park yoga and bootcamp instructor sounds, and a "2K23 Preorder Backpack" 2K24: 17,110 animation clips, championship and Finals MVP celebrations, Hall of Fame stage sounds, 53 AI play calls, and texts like "Stream NBA 2K24" 2K25: 21,404 animation clips, the most of any game, even more than 2K27's own 17,412. Plus 11 AI play calls, City sounds for the Elite and Rise doors, and a placeholder menu background 2K26: 16,498 animation clips, three joke free throws ("Grampa Style", "Who Needs Two Hands?", "Drop It Low"), arena sounds, and the fake social post "yo 2K26 is crazy son. So much better than last year." and many more. About 88%, are named after an older 2K. Only 11% - 2K27. A year in a name tells you what game something was first made for, not that it was never updated. A lot of it is still used in 2K27, and some of it is just leftover. Every yearly series reuses work. Locking animations up is a choice. 2K takes animations we already had, spreads them across seasons, hides them behind REP, puts a VC price on the rest, and sells it back to us as new content. That's not progression. That's charging us again for stuff we already paid for in past 2Ks. And even after all the grinding, you still don't get close to the full library older games gave us. It's not a technical limit. It's a business model built on making us grind and pay for the same animations every single year.

Because once you figure out it’s mainly about assets and animations, it’s unlocked
This could be the beginning of the end for the gaming industry as we know it. People still don’t understand what happens when AI can reverse-engineer virtually any game. Reverse engineering means more than copying or porting it over. It means you can modify it, expand it, combine it, and rebuild it into something completely new. Take Dragon Ball FighterZ. I used Opus 5.5 to port it to Three.js. In this video I show you two examples of what this means! → Turning FighterZ into an MMO → Putting FighterZ combat + characters into League of Legends-style gameplay → Creating new maps, modes, mechanics, characters, progression systems → Merging mechanics from completely different games At that point, a game is no longer a finished product. It becomes a foundation for infinite games. And once anyone can do this to almost any title... What happens to the gaming industry?

How is this possible!? 😂

They’re slowly catching up! Great work!
We're introducing skills in @GeminiApp to help you automate your most repetitive tasks. Now, you can now save your most-used instructions once and run them endlessly by typing a '/' in the prompt bar.

Well there’s a well known app called X 😆
Replying to @zwb44
Did you really think we were going to name it o?

Love it! Very surprising! And it’s nice to meet the people from this app in person 😎
So, what did you all think of DevDay? Was it surprising or a total flop? Did you love it? Hate it?

Received this Chromatic from OpenAI DevDay. You can’t tell me this isn’t cool! 😎

This will be crazy!

It already runs out fast, maybe there’s a backup plan at DevDay today? 🤔
Hi, Tomorrow we are re-opening the Pro $200 subscriptions to new subscribers, but together with it we are also changing how we calculate the usage for it. In effect, if you do the math, it will net out at half the dollar in API spend compared to the old Pro $200 plan. Now that it's said, let me explain why this is happening and why you will still get more work done than if you were on the Pro $200 subscription one month ago. (a) We didn't want to compromise in other ways and are committing to not reintroducing the 5h limit, so that you can fully use the weekly usage when you want. (b) On the subscription, we guarantee that over time you always get more work done and with an increasing level of quality. This means that you will continue to get more value per dollar spent as a result of models getting more efficient and us passing down the improvements in the form of API price reductions. (c) We don't want to put an incentive on ourselves to artificially inflate the API list prices to make it look like you are getting a lot (and workaround it through discounts, etc). Instead we want to continue to both rapidly reduce prices and increase capabilities of models on the API. This week we introduced GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna at 50% of their previous price. Over time, we see prices go low enough that it makes sense for most to buy usage as needed without there being a significant gap between what you get in a subscription and what you get in the API for a dollar spent. (d) Tomorrow, we are adding more things to the subscription that won't draw on the usage, I won't reveal what that is yet. I wanted to be transparent before all the big announcements tomorrow. Lots of new exciting things are coming to the subscriptions that will make it super compelling, but I wanted to make sure to share this change ahead of time so you can all understand it before we shower you with good news. Codexingly, Tibo

In SF for OpenAi DevDay what’s there to do here?

Anyone going to OpenAI DevDay tomorrow? ☀️

If OpenAI comes out with a new model better with limits as flexible or more flexible than Opus 5.5….where do we go from here?? 🤔

😂 this was really cool, what a great idea
Highlights of me talking to Opus 5.5 and Astra. Honestly I found Astra to be much funnier and coherent. Opus was a bit bland and kept focusing on some weird details, which surprised me tbh, I thought it would be better. Maybe I should try Fable instead.

I want to play some Opus 5.5 made games. Drop them links 👇
