I’ve never seen a show carried as hard by its aesthetics and vibes as Gundam Wing. Absolutely nonsensical and pedestrian execution until the last 6 episodes. Then Endless Waltz somehow produces some of the most stylish imagery you can find in a 90s sci-fi anime.
Does Gundam Wing have major pacing issues? Yes.
Was this still one of the most memorable scenes of my childhood? Also yes.

Black bars are such a blunt type of horror. Blurring obscures details but still gives you the idea of something. In documents, putting [REDACTED] still gives you letters to glaze over. A black bar feels like your brain is protecting you from something you weren’t meant to see.
