That’ll do it. I am so sorry guys. I am just as heartbroken as the rest of you💔💔
But it’s time to have a serious conversation. I appreciated a lot of your guys optimism but it was cope deep down.😔
The Atlanta Braves offensive is a really bad group of guys and major decisions need to be addressed or we will be cycling right back to this point come next season.
Alex Anthopoulos has got to come up with a new ideology of how to form an offense and that starts with adding young/energetic players to this roster.
The Atlanta Braves have an average age of 30.7 making them the oldest team in baseball. It starts with building around a certain group of guys (Baldwin, Harris, Olson, Ozzie, Sale). It’s time to move on from Acuna. AA has gone season after season relying on him and he just isn’t the same. He can’t stay on the field, he’s inconsistent at the plate, and his defense has crumbled. Acuna struggled mightily with the fastball then found a groove for a couple weeks. All of a sudden it went back to square one. Austin Riley is a tough conversation but this was 3 straight seasons hoping he would bounce back but it’s time to accept he is cooked. He chases at an extreme level, his power is long gone, and strikes out at an abysmal level. At the point if you can make a statement and trade a bad contract for bad contract you do it, and if that results in getting off money much quicker. You don’t hesitate. Mike Yastrzemski was the biggest dud I’ve ever seen. He was horrible and anything that tries to tell you he was supposed to be a Profar backup. Tell them to kick rocks. He is making 10 million dollars to be a below average player and 1 week streaks to make it seem feasible. If you can’t find a trade partner, DFA him. AA pivoted to 36 year old who was regressing in fly ball rate and more…. He trust a few weeks in Kansas City that his career was somehow rejuvenated. Mauricio Dubón is another tough conversation but he’s going to be asking for an absurd amount of money, and it’s someone who I think will regress. Dubón has an insane chase rate, doesn’t hit the ball hard, and doesn’t get on base. He is 32 years old so regression is expected so you have to be careful with a guy who was a utility guy for years and is glove first. So think before you make him your starting SS just until your next core is ready. Sean Murphy may need to be another guy you move off of. He would be a great backup catcher but is making a bit too much for that role (15 million). If he is stoping you from making a move for a DH that can actually get on base. Like Ozuna did. Then that’s a very upsetting move. Bringing back Ozzie is the right move. He showed promise this postseason and is very cheap and reliable, if you can find reasonable young depth to allow him many days off it’ll do wonders for him because we saw when he gets his rest he’s a great baseball player.
Bring back Mahle, bring back Iggy. I’m on the fence about moving on from Dylan Lee and seeing if you could land a young athletic mlb player🤷♂️
Let’s see if AA has the guts to do this but we all know he is running it back and all the HOMERS will be excited and convince you otherwise.
Until then it’s been fun, it’s been a grind, it’s been challenging, and it’s been fun to interact with you all that over the season. Goodbye. 👋
Go Braves❗️
