istg I can’t be the only one who feels like the look and feel of the remake version appears to be much more at home in the vibe of the forest temple than a bunch of platforms spinning around a random glowy lava(?) pit (and that the spinning just added tedium, not complexity)

Publishers killed reading by successfully killing e-books. Book reading has declined as every other type of entertainment has gotten cheaper and more convenient and books never were allowed to

the premise is also absurd. e-books *are* almost always significantly cheaper than physical books, but many people view the fact that e-books aren’t literally 2 cents or that you can’t pay $10/mo to read every book in existence as books being ludicrously expensive

after reflecting on it a bunch, I think my only take on the manga discourse du jour (re: publishers throwing female readers under the bus) is that sexist things in business almost always happen *because* they’re considered the safe/guaranteed/wise choice.

so I think it’s a convenient fiction to think of dumb & sexist business moves as being inherently interlinked (except for rare exceptions ofc). the fact that sexist tendencies are so safe/guaranteed or revered as wise is what makes them so difficult to fight against & tear down!

sexist tendencies & biases line up with easy, short-term wins; inclusivity is a big investment that takes significant effort and doesn’t pay off right away. obviously I personally value the latter a ton more, but I think it’s misguided to view either as objectively smart or dumb.
