ChatT (Pakistan's sovereign messenger app) was architected from the outset to carry hundreds of millions of users.
Matt Grogan explains how. OpenChat gave every user and every group its own canister. ChatT packs up to a million users into a single one, and runs four canisters per subnet so all four of a subnet's update threads stay busy.
It all runs in Pakistani data centers, with no dependencies on big tech.

Data infrastructure has become a target in modern warfare, so it has to be tamperproof and always-on. It also has to fit a world where AI is not only the best hacker but the best builder of software.
The Internet Computer is built for both: applications on a cloud engine, queryable by an agent in real time, with nothing in between.

"NEAR did unprecedented work on chain signatures"
"unprecedented" is doing a lot of work here, threshold ECDSA, one key, sign on any chain, no bridge, shipped on internet-computer:native protocol-native, subnet-level DKG, asynchronous & byzantine-robust, with formal security proofs.
NEAR's chain signatures shipped in 2024 and it's not even onchain, but an 8-node, appointed, permissioned side MPC network.
So the "unprecedented engineering" is really "we shipped what ICP shipped protocol native, as offchain MPC."
@NEARProtocol even cites @dfinity math for their offchain MPC bolt-on.😉

In the "Derivation Paths: One Account, Multiple Chains" section, click the Additive Key Derivation link. It takes you to a @dfinity paper (click the PDF icon on the site).
The funny part is, put the signer contract on any another blockchain (ETH, SOL, SUI... any smart-contract one), attach the MPC bolt-on, and it'll be "unprecedented engineering" for that chain too, without needing $NEAR at all.
btw @LitProtocol already runs the same type, offchain, permissioned MPC, live on Ethereum today. 😉

The UNDP uses (or will soon use) internet-computer:native Cloud Engines, pretty nice!
If they find value in CE themselves, it's likely they will want to push it further to the governments they work with.
