People will blame immigration or austerity but in truth the UK becoming a glorified nursing home with legacy media prioritising the retiree class is largely the reason for this.
so the uk has no more culture export left whatsoever now right

Also the reason why the 'influencer accent' and 'American youtube accent' are so prominent amongst younger people. British media just ceded the entirety of generations of British youth to American media platforms.

the state suffocated talent & taxed it out the country in the 70s, we still had reach then, legacy media being boring does not stop foreign countries from liking our musicians, nor stop us from producing musicians lol

It's financially prohibitve to be a working class band, venues where you could DJ are shutting enmasse because older property owners complain about the noise and legislation was crafted to prevent rappers from performing.

Yeah is it the bankers or the billionaires who own 70% of the country's wealth and own all the media convincing us to hate our own parents, or is it Derek and Susan, 72 who are a bit thick and entitled

Its the kingmaker generation who for the past 15+ years put in parties that gutted chances for the youth to literally triple lock increasingly bloated pensions. The idea that the generation that basically chose 15 years of austerity has no blame here is ludicrous.

The problem is capitalism, immigration is literally a byproduct of that. Hence why you have the right wing attacking individual migrants to fulfill their racist desires when in reality it does nothing to the actual level of immigration regardless.

Poor people being pushed out of any possible arts has also done this.

Its also telling that the one institution of British media that still produces art with a bit of bite is Channel 4. I don't even like a lot of it but at least lady parts and its a sin are a firm rejection of the Paddingtonification of Britain

Also people don't have time to create shit? We're too busy working our arses off for pittance, leaving no room to create art or culture. Even film and TV has to be made with profits in mind; leading to bland, cookie-cutter bollocks.

This happens because of the planning system. Boomers are the main demographic and they oppose the construction of stuff that dies not turn the country into one big nursing home, so gradually all the jobs become some sort of pseudo-attendant role in a retirement park nation.

it's funny as well because Japan has much the same issue (very large politically dominant retiree class) and yet they're a cultural export powerhouse, arguably the world's 2nd biggest after America. What did they do different?

Migration is part of that, cheaper carers and higher property prices for the nursing home. Oppose the means the national nursing home uses

The UK culturally competes with the rest of the world far more than it did even two decades ago, and unlike the US it ceased to be a superpower the best part of a century ago. That is far more of a factor than any of those mentioned in the OP.
