My hobby is trolling this obvious AI slop "ER nurse" account that also accidentally drops into being a floor nurse from time to time. I guess what REALLY grinds my gears is everyone blows past obvious red flags. Like an active ER nurse working 12 hour shifts naming their account "Buck Bundy" (i.e. referencing a 40 year old sitcom) and putting "deals" in both their handle and linking to a shopping site. Besides either totally vague grindslop posts or any specific stories making no sense (a healthy looking person getting seen in the ER in 20 minutes).

thinking about how, before gps everyone was flabbergasted why men would never ask for directions and now we hear all about icks, usually having any momentary flicker of incompetence at anything being a death sentence lol

Games aren't cooked. AI hype influencers are cooked.
Okay, this is pretty insane. I just had GPT-6 Astra one-shot this entire game, which had pulled in $7.6 million USD when it launched. This is Kingdom: Classic. I had wanted to play it, bought it off steam but found that it was unfortunately not compatible with my mac. So instead, I opened up Astra, told it to look at this game and perfectly recreate it with all its features so that I could play this on web. Within as little as half an hour, I had a fully working game I was enjoying, and it had ALL the features of the original I had hinted at this before, but I am seeing fewer and fewer reasons to purchase games anymore as AI progresses. If I can just tell the AI to look at a game and read up all the aspects and mechanics and it can recreate it for me at a fraction of the price, what's the point of buying it new? This can be said for mobile games too, the unbearable ads, etc. You can just recreate the game in a minute and have all the "premium" features you could have desired. Hook it up on an automated rig that reads any patch notes/updates and you're not missing out on much. (Apart from ofcourse multiplayer games, single player games are pretty cooked IMO)

The reason I find this terrible, well first, obviously it's a lie. It's not the full game in either aesthetics or mechanics, which you acknowledged: "Yeah but think in a few iterations"... But also you think it's better that millions of people stop paying for new creative work and redirect that money they would have sent to a developer to a model company instead, so that they can all simultaneously generate a worse version of the developer's vision.

When I started college in 2000 a few students created a message board that became pretty popular on campus. On 9/11 many of us used it to talk about what had happened. Years later I would end up taking over the site and have kept it alive for the couple hundred alumni who still hang out there. Most of the threads from the early years were archived long ago, but today I restored all the threads and posts from that day. This is what it looked like for thousands of college students responding to 9/11 in real time. thewolfweb.com/message_secti…

If we write the following code and then run it a trillion times, does it really matter if the code is "intelligent" or not? while(true): # this is correct 99.9999% of the time if should_launch_nukes(): launch_em()
AI is less "intelligent" than bacteria, it will never be "superintelligent", it is software, not an organism. It can't want, intend, or think anything. This is just techno-superstition, there is no ghost in the machine.
