Irish people are good at saving. Every week and every month, people work hard to put something aside to build financial security for themselves and their families.

Gone but not forgotten. The GAA is many things but it is always ultimately about people and being there for others. @CrokePark reacts to Finn Clancy representing his late dad Paul in the @Galway_GAA 2021 Jubilee team.

Today, on World Drowning Prevention Day, we remember those who have lost their lives to drowning and reaffirm our commitment to preventing these tragedies. Every drowning is one too many, and many are preventable through awareness, education, and simple safety measures. Whether you're at the beach, a river, a lake, or enjoying water-based activities, taking the right precautions can save lives. @jerrybuttimer, Minister of State at the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, encourages everyone to respect the water, learn lifesaving skills, and look out for one another. Unite to turn the tide and together, we can help make our waterways safer for everyone. #worlddrowningpreventionday #drowningprevention

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Kathleen Walsh D’Arcy, a pillar of the New York City Irish community. A proud Irish-American, Kathleen dedicated her life to promoting a diverse and inclusive vision of the Irish diaspora. Kathleen will be remembered for her fight for LGBTQI equality in New York, from fighting the ban of LGBTI organizations in the 5th Avenue St. Patricks Day Parade, to the founding of the Sunnyside @StPatsForAll Parade. Kathleen received the Presidential Distinguished Service Award for the Irish Abroad in 2016, and was honoured at a state dinner in Dublin by former President Michael D. Higgins for her advocacy. Her life and legacy will live on in the communities she helped to shape. The Consulate sends our deepest condolences to Kathleen’s friends, family, and the St Pat’s For All team during this difficult time.

I welcome statements by An Tánaiste and An Taoiseach That Cork City Council is to engage with the landowners to explore all options for the future of the site represents a significant & welcome step forward.
I have been absolutely clear about my deep unease in relation to the proposed development on the grounds of Bessborough. The concerns raised by survivors groups, families, campaigners and the wider community have been clear and consistent and it is important they are listened to.
