Senator, “all kratom is deadly” simply isn’t a serious way to discuss this issue. I’ve consumed kratom for more than a decade, advocated for testing, age restrictions, accurate labeling and responsible regulation, and watched Congress spend years failing to create meaningful federal standards. Raw kratom leaf, concentrated extracts, 7 OH products and newer manufactured derivatives should not simply be treated as though they are all the same thing. Protect kids. Regulate the market. Enforce age limits. Require testing and honest labels. Fund the science. But fear based claims and prohibition are not substitutes for good policy. If you use kratom or 7-OH, go respond to his post and tell him about your actual experience. There are real conversations to be had about responsible regulation, but blanket statements like this ignore everyone’s experience with these products. Tell Senator Grassley your story. What do you use 7-OH for? What was your life like before you found it? How has it affected you? What do you wish policymakers understood about people who use these products? Keep it respectful, keep it personal and speak for yourself. Tag @ChuckGrassley and make sure he hears directly from consumers.

mgm-15 is not kratom. It does not exist in nature. It binds the MOR much stronger than 7-OH. It has caused single-substance deaths due to respiratory depression. No single substance deaths from 7-OH despite 1 million consumers, and single substance deaths from kratom are extremely rare and often stimulant-like due to the cardiotoxicity of mitragynine.

It just isn’t narrating every second of your life anymore. That’s what gets lost in almost every conversation about opioids. For chronic-pain patients, successful pain treatment isn’t about feeling good. It’s about having enough relief to participate in your own life. Enough relief to become interested in something besides surviving the next hour. Enough relief that your world gets bigger than your pain. And maybe that’s why people who have never needed these medications misunderstand them so badly. They imagine the medication adding something intoxicating to your life. Sometimes what it’s actually doing is giving something back. A shower. A meal. A drive. A conversation. A little independence. A piece of yourself. When opioid medication actually works, you don’t disappear into the drug. You get to reappear in your own life.
