We’re committing a portion of Anthropic’s shares to the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new wholly owned entity dedicated entirely to the public benefit. It will start off with 5% of our shares. For every 50% increase in the company’s value over a set baseline, we can contribute up to an extra 2%, subject to our board’s discretion. In total, this means that roughly 20% of Anthropic’s shares are committed to the public good. Our co-founders have already pledged to donate 80% of their equity, and around half our employees are donating a portion of their equity as part of a donation matching program we’ve run since our founding. In the post below, we share more details about our new fund. anthropic.com/news/public-be…

Is this how scientists’ inner monologue sounds like at the moment they’ve made a new discovery?

Very cool! It might a while before our cars fly us to our destinations, but I think this could be an airbag-like system in case of accidents e.g. rollovers. There would be no safer car on earth when combined with FSD and all other cars would require this.
Turns out the future does have flying cars

Claude Managed Agents dynamic workflows are now available in public beta. It's a new type of multiagent orchestration, built for your most ambitious workloads. A lead agent writes a plan that runs across many agents in phases, combining the results at the end.

It would be hard not to kinda love OpenAI. It’s the lab that really started scaling a technology that scratched all of our imaginations. But it’s not over. OpenAI will be fine. Cooking takes time. It would be better for everyone if we all just took our time to ship good products that are tasty and safe.
i’m a little torn because i love how ruthlessly openai pivoted to ensure they had frontier pretraining and i do feel like dots is the right interface and i kinda love openai BUT anthropic always seems one step ahead. they’re not over active on x, they don’t have stores or images or dots. they just have world class models at coding and knowledge work. and taste doesn’t seem to me to be something easy to just hill climb. basically opus 5.5 is oneshotting some high level white collar work that astra spins its wheel on. i have way less dead tokens with opus because it has taste and genuinely understands. and if they’re somehow able to compete on price, it could be. dare i say it. so over.

We'll be spending a lot more time trying to understand the outputs of language models. A few thoughts, tips & tricks: Writing. Something I've had success with: Ask your LLM to explain something in ASD-STE100, it's a controlled language specification originally developed for aerospace maintenance documentation. LLMs well-versed in this language and it comes with heavy constraints on clean writing style that I often find a lot more readable. Sometimes I've tried to soften it a bit e.g. ask for "80% of the way to ASD-STE100" because the spec is quite stringent. But even better: Diagrams / images. Instead of writing, ask your LLM to create a diagram. These can be a lot easier to process, parse, and understand. But even better: Web pages. Ask for output "in HTML" to get a beautiful, interactive webpage. LLMs are getting really good at frontend and can create beautiful experiences, animations, etc. But even better: Explainer videos. The output format I am most bullish on is fully custom / bespoke explainer videos generated on any arbitrary topic. Experiment with things like "Create a 3b1b style video explainer on X. Use my ElevenLabs API key for audio narration". (you'd need an API key for the latter or you can ask your LLM to find you decent free alternatives that use your local compute). This is actually starting to work! In summary: - As LLMs get better, they will do more and more of the legwork autonomously, and a lot more of our work will rise up the abstractions into oversight and understanding. - Luckily, LLMs can help here too because as intelligence and code are increasingly abundant, you can ask for large, custom, discardable software artifacts (e.g. web apps, video explainers) that would have never made sense to create before. Push the boundaries here and you'll be surprised.

Looks like Vinod and I both heard about Factory for the first time today
You are a struggling second tier competitor that is more unethical and lying just because you have no decency or sense of proper behavior and shows your desperation. Straight out lying about if Chris being fired I thought would be below even you.

I remember when I was told that this was “an uninteresting, unsubstantiated take” at the time. It’s aging pretty well so far. We’ve come a long way with coding agents. They are on Autopilot now.

Vibes ≈ Taste + Intuition + Vision
Using Claude regularly again has made obvious one of the biggest differences between Anthropic and OpenAI models: taste GPT (Astra included) just doesn't really compete. Sure, you can get ~similar quality outputs with enough prompting, time and effort, but Opus 5.5 just combines great taste, intuition and vision in a way no model before it has. While being incredibly usage-light in Claude subs, something that cannot be said about Astra A big step in the right direction in all sorts of ways for Anthropic, and I'm excited to see what they have in store soon for Haiku, Sonnet and Fable

You may have heard that my colleagues over in our experimental biology team have discovered their first major breakthrough, which is really exciting - they discovered a new enzyme system, array-associated reverse transcriptases (ART), that have never been reported by human scientists. I really love reading some of Claude's takes while it was assisting with this research though. Good Claude!

Claude has discovered a previously unknown enzyme system hidden in the DNA of bacteriophages. Beside the enzyme’s gene sits a long array of repeating DNA—a structure that looks somewhat similar to CRISPR. We don’t yet understand what this system does, but only a handful of known systems share its features, and all of them are able to cut, copy, and paste DNA. Historically, the discovery of such programmable systems has helped revolutionize medicine. CRISPR, for instance, is now the foundation of genetic medicines. But it will take much more work to learn what this system does, and whether it can be put to similar use. Read more: anthropic.com/news/claude-di…
