Set against a nation still haunted by the horrors of war, Takashi Yamazaki delivers a spectacular monster movie with a powerful emotional core. Godzilla this time is more terrifying than ever, the destruction is jaw-dropping and the film truly is an IMAX spectacle. But above all the action and adrenaline what really gets you is the human story, the trauma, sacrifices, moral dilemmas and the struggle to find hope when everything seems lost. The war themes give the spectacle so much more weight, making every moment hit harder. Yamazaki has truly outdone himself. What a ride!
