Did New Jersey join a lawsuit to keep more productions in California as opposed to other places like New Jersey— where the taxpayers are (rightly) investing tons of money to build the industry here— while suing a company building a studio here? Madness!
BREAKING: Based on what Im hearing the $PSKY deal with @AGRobBonta is coming down to the wire with concessions that would make it look like a win for the Cali AG but stuff the Ellisons can live with. Now some caveats: Ive covered scores of deals on Wall Street that fell apart at the last hour over internal politics (who gets to be CEO COO ect), and this once is fraught with politics at another level: Dem establishment pushing Bonta, who wants to be Gov and needs to stay in the good graces of his lefty base that hates the $PSKY-$WBD combo even if it make perfect sense on so many levels including the big one: There is ZERO antitrust issues with this combo given the vast changes in the media biz. Other politics: He has to get other AGs to sign off. Tish James in NY is hyper political, keep in mind. So, what are the concessions? Just based on the email traffic: Something to do with domestic movie production in state; something that keeps the studios at least nominally separate; and something that addresses CNN's editorial independence.
