If any parent goes into a hospital with their child. please listen to them. Don’t ignore them. Ms Power told the Sligo and Leitrim coroner, Fergal Kelly, that she twice asked for her son to be transferred to Crumlin from Sligo University Hospital (SUH) after he was admitted on March 25, 2023. She said she felt her requests were disregarded. The inquest also heard that despite the advice of a consultant anaesthetist, Crumlin Children’s Hospital was not contacted for another 14 hours. The inquest heard harrowing evidence of Nicholas’s final days as several witnesses detailed his worsening respiratory distress and agitation at SUH, which culminated in his death on March 27, 2023. A verdict of medical misadventure was returned in the case of 12-year-old Nicholas Power. The inquest heard of "harrowing" delays and missed warnings before he died of sepsis. Rest in peace Nicholas 😢 #Sepsis #Healthcare #Ireland #nicholaspower independent.ie/irish-news/co…

This day last year was filled with joy and hope for the future. We were celebrating Remy’s birthday a couple days early because Harvey was finally going in to have his surgery for his scoliosis. We were so looking forward to the next chapter for him and for us as a family. He never should have had to wait like he did. He never should have had to spend a third of his life waiting for ‘urgent’ surgery. No child should ever be left in pain to deteriorate and expected to just accept it. These children’s biggest concern should be making Santa’s nice list, not their status on a surgery list. #JusticeForHarvey #NoChildWaiting

If we all refrain from bringing up Covid in our personal relationships in order to avoid awkwardness and hurting feelings... How is that different than people conforming to not wearing masks in order to avoid making others uncomfortable or sticking out like a sore thumb?

Investment funds control 81% of nursing home beds, raising serious concerns about quality of care and the long-term sustainability of the sector. HIQA warns of risks due to profit-driven models and lack of oversight. We need to talk about prioritising care over profit. We need to listen to families with lived experience and start addressing the issue in which the government is supporting private business rather than investing in high-quality care with appropriate oversight. @kodonnellLK #humanrightsdonotgrowold rte.ie/brainstorm/2025/0424/…

My uncle, who invests, says don’t worry the markets will recover, he says we should all learn from the pandemic: the markets suffered but the markets recovered, and I suppose he is right, but what I learned from this pandemic is that the markets recover but many people never do.

Common symptoms
of Covid include
cough and runny nose
shortness of breath and fever
sore throat and exhaustion
and another symptom
we should add to this list
is the furious insistence
from one with all
these symptoms
that whatever they have
it definitely isn’t Covid.

Nearly 260,000 people were waiting on therapy treatment or assessment in their community by December 2024, compared to around 167,000 on similar lists five years earlier. Babies unable to feed, older people struggling to recover from hip operations, and teenagers needing glasses could be hidden in these numbers, therapists warned. irishexaminer.com/news/arid-…

It's wild how the HSE can say SARS-CoV-2 cases are low when they no longer provide access to free testing to the public or staff, tell people they don't need to test for COVID, and don't test for it in hospitals....

Question: if an airline company said that their staff were heroes for working such long hours in such old planes to get people from A to B, would you book a flight with them?

If you think you might have Covid - or you’re just feeling sick - stay home this holiday season. Don’t be the reason someone’s loved one ends up in the hospital (or worse). If you absolutely can’t stay home - wear a well fitted respirator. You could save a life.
