New in Mastodon 4.6: Newsletters 📬
Mastodon servers now support email newsletters, which allow people without a social web account to subscribe to your posts via email. This feature is opt-in at the server level.
We're building Mastodon for people and institutions that want independence from corporate-controlled social networks, so they can reach their audience directly wherever those people are.

The landing page of your Mastodon server doesn't need to look like a social media feed.
As of our latest release, those running Mastodon servers can now set up a custom landing page that highlights what your server is about and showcases recent posts from local profiles. Give visitors a curated introduction to your server that actually makes sense for your community or mission.

Here's how they're different:
✅ You decide whether your profile can appear in Collections and you can remove yourself from a Collection at any time

The EU Commission just released a statement positioning open source as central to #Europe’s tech sovereignty, including #Mastodon.
They intend to “strengthen the open source social media space by supporting open and decentralised social media solutions and platforms. The Commission currently runs a Mastodon instance, which hosts the Commission’s presence and plans to extend the users basis to EU institutions.”
