They turned a state visit into a therapy session about ballrooms, gold in the Oval Office, and whether Trump likes strongmen. Kristen sat there guessing his feelings like she was dissecting a high school crush. Other presidents get a handshake at the door. Xi gets Andrews, three days of VIP treatment, and a full show of American power. That is diplomacy, not a decorating special.
CNN cannot cover a deal without inventing an insecurity. Trump is not begging for China’s approval. He is putting America on display and making Beijing show up for the handshake. If that bothers cable news more than China’s actual leverage, they have told you everything about their priorities.
