I really want to know how being left handed is a disrespect in Yoruba land. I have fought many battles on this, and concluded that this is one of the most ridiculous ways to label someone as disrespectful.
I just saw a video of a Yorùbá (marriage) introduction ceremony. The father of the bride was telling his inlaws that his daughter, the bride to be, is left-handed. He admonished them not to get angry if she gave them something with her left hand. "She wipes her butt with her own right hand and uses the left for honourable things. So, if she gives you something with her left hand, see it as the right hand of everybody else"
It was so heartwarming
