If you’re at all interested, please consider applying - don’t assume you’re not qualified enough!
Our journal, @CollabraOA, is seeking 2 Senior Editors of the Personality & Cognitive sections. They'll provide input about journal policies, help select Associate Editors, & evaluate manuscripts from their content area. #OpenScience

I'm reviving this thread from a while back to share that this paper is now out at #AMPPS! journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.…
Have you ever wondered what features of studies science journalists pay attention to when deciding whether to report on a finding? I did! So I asked some of them, with help from my wonderful collaborators @siminevazire, @mijkenijk, and @cragcrest. psyarxiv.com/26kr3/ 1/8

The entire process from when we first had the idea to seeing the paper published took about 4 years, through a pandemic, a couple of intercontinental moves, and a dissertation that included this work. I worked on it practically throughout my whole PhD! It was quite the journey.

I think I still have a couple of first-author papers in me, but just in case I don't, this (and its sibling royalsocietypublishing.org/d…) feel like a perfectly good pair of papers to end a PhD on :)

Last week I asked people for common "bad" objections against open science. A summarized list below (including word telling me to start using periods):

Have you used PsyArXiv to share or access preprints? Although the service is (and always will be) free to end users, it's not free to run. SIPS incurs annual hosting costs, and we need your help to meet 2023's fundraising goals. #PsyArXiv #OpenAccess improvingpsych.org/2023/09/0…

If you want to hear the Australian pronunciation of “Data Colada”, and hear me ramble about many other things (the Data Colada part is at the end), listen to this short @TheHPSPodcast episode (produced by @SamaraJG and Indigo Keel):

We've met our goal 🎉
3 reasons to still donate:
1. For just $1, you'll boost the # of donors. That message to Joe, Leif, & Uri, and to the world, is as important as the financial support
2. Our target was a guess about likely legal costs
3. Money that's not needed'll be refunded
Be a part of the change you wish to see in the world:
Donate to help support the legal expenses of Data Colada.
They're being sued by Prof Gino after posting careful, meticulous blog posts raising concerns about data integrity in 4 papers.

This whole thread. There are jerks in scientific criticism. But if we paint all critics with the same brush, we're creating a world where no one except the jerks will criticize our work. Do we really want to be a field of only hype, fluff, & TED talks (and rampant fraud)?

If you oversee a journal & are interested in collaborating w/ other journals to study the impact of journal policies & innovations, talk to Noah!
Even if this project isn’t a good fit for your journal, it’d be great to build a community of journals to do more studies like this!
