Everything I see about MCU doctor doom seems to indicate they just gave him Kang’s origin and motivation. It all sounds a lot like that avengers cartoon Kang arc, and absolutely nothing like doom‘s personality or backstory

rewatching Angel, and as much as contemporary supernatural shows like lanterns can be nice, i Wish they’d do one and done episodes with an overarching plot again instead of this drawn out thing they do where episodes feel very light by comparison

Imagine Lanterns as a case of the week with them traveling to places, solving cases, budding heads and growing their relationship over a long period of time as we get all the flashback stuff from their childhoods sprinkled in, and a larger threat looming

When I was rereading DC: The New Frontier, one thing that really stood out to me is how despite the fact that tackles all these mature themes, it's still very much a Superhero story. Cooke is aware of this and doesn't view it as a hindrance to telling mature stories.+

Don’t know if its budget or what but lanterns has an odd discrepancy between how incredibly massive/iconic the cosmic elements are said to be by the dialogue and how mundane they are in practice. The manhunter especially. Makes the weight of it all feel rather light.

For the past 4 weeks, half my feed is people arguing over John Stewart. Thing is depending on wether they base their idea of him on pre JLU comics, JLU itself, or post JLU comics, theyre not talking about the same person at all, and the disputes are quite a sight to see…

A lot of people don’t realize that as far as who John Stewart was in the books, his job, his personality, the cartoon lied to us big time, and everything else since has been trying to reconcile the two very different versions into one. Including This new show.
