A sitting United States senator just admitted she wants to use prosecutions to scare young people away from working for President Trump. Sen. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan said it out loud at the University of Chicago on Tuesday, during a live taping of a Vox podcast. "I want to look at these signature cases and not just focus on the president, but on the people who enabled him," she said. "I want young people coming out of school to say, should I go work for the Trump administration?... I want them to be like, Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems that I don't want... I want that deterrence message." This isn't a one-time slip. In a September 30 speech, Slotkin said Democrats should go after Trump officials if they retake Congress, and she compared it to Poland's "Iron Broom" plan for cleaning house after authoritarian rule. She named Kristi Noem, Doug Burgum and Jeanine Pirro, and warned that misusing taxpayer money "can land you a sentence of up to 20 years in prison." Think about what she's saying. She isn't talking about a specific crime someone committed. She's talking about making an example of people so the next generation is too afraid to serve their country under a president they voted for. As a mother, I'd be proud to see my kids serve in government, and nobody should be threatened with prison for taking that job. This is exactly why the midterms matter. MOTHER OF HERO SPEAKS OUT 🙏🏼 Kaylub Giamanco’s mom just described the phone call she got moments after her son stopped the school shooter in Bend, Oregon. “He said, Mom, I just shot and kiIIed somebody.” She asked him to tell her about it. “A man went into my daughter’s school and shot kids. And I looked at him point blank and I shot and kiIIed him, Mom.” She told him he saved a lot of lives. His answer: “Mom, I couldn’t save them all.” He was driving home from lunch when he heard the shots. He pulled up onto the grass, grabbed his gun, and followed the gunman back into the school. He army-crawled through a window the shooter had already blasted out and ended the attack. Three kids and a teacher were already gone. His own daughters were safe. Now he’s struggling with the ones he couldn’t reach and asking himself what he could have done differently. This is what happens when a good man with a gun runs toward the sound of gunfire instead of waiting for someone else to show up. THAT is what stopped more of them from dying. Authorities report that a 16-year-old former student entered the school with a shotgun and opened fire inside a special education classroom. Three children and a 25-year-old teacher were killed. Two others survived with serious injuries. Among the survivors: 🙏 Saylor Graham, 7, a young girl who uses a wheelchair, remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition. 🙏 Becky Drury, 54, an educational assistant, suffered gunshot wounds to her arms and underwent surgery. According to police, a teacher fought back against the gunman, and a father who entered the school with a legally possessed firearm fatally shot the attacker. Investigators have not established a motive. Four innocent lives have been stolen, two survivors face difficult recoveries, and families have been changed forever.
