I have to ask, am I unique or does this happen to lots of people? Eight years ago I was on top of the world, financially secured with my wife & Granddaughter, early retirement. I had a few health issues from the Marines, toxic chems, esophagus cancer and nerve damage in legs, lower back but under control. Then a dark cloud came, my wife got cancer and went on chemo for a year before passing. Insurance covered some but it took a big chunk of what we had saved. So I went from Social Security of $5,500 to around $3,000 and a drained 401k and bank account. To add insult, close to $100,000 in jewelry disappeared out of my home while this was going on. Then Covid hit as I tried to continue to raise my granddaughter. This time period wiped out the rest of my savings. I started cutting out meds, skipping meals just to stay ahead. I started falling behind on the only thing I had left, my home which had little equity. I contacted the VA who helped, they redid my mortgage at a lower interest rate, 2 1/2 percent which saved my home. This was about the time I lost my Mother, Father and brother, natural deaths but all at once. At least I had a roof over my head still. That was until 2 months ago as it looks I am going to lose my home now. My property tax went up $400 a month and I just can’t afford it. So I am curious, is it just me getting beat up? President Trump tells me I’m winning, sure doesn’t feel like it.

WINNING? Mr. President, please explain how I am winning. This is my life since 2019. I was already on disability from military service, exposure to chemicals which caused neurological problems with legs and back and a touch of cancer. In 2018 my wife got diagnosed with cancer, she passed late 2019, it drained my 401k, most of it and Covid drained the rest over the next couple of years, as I was raising my granddaughter alone. I started falling behind on mortgage payments around 2024 as I only had Social Security, the government made it clear I was not entitled to my wife’s Social Security even though it was our money we paid in. My savings by this time were long gone from prices skyrocketing and cancer. I turned to the VA for help and they helped reduce my mortgage payments by redoing my mortgage at a lower interest rate making payments cheaper. I had to give up my meds and skip meals but I was making ends meet although barely. This last year I lost my mother, my father and a brother, so bad luck seemed to be still with me. At least I had my home, at least I thought I did, until last month. My property taxes went up $400 a month which I just can’t do so now I will lose everything I have left. I don’t care, all I want is my wife’s ashes, the government can have everything else. I’m tired Mr. President, without my meds the pain everyday is becoming too much. I have no more fight but I would really like to know how am I winning like never before. I’m just not seeing it. This is my reality, but I am betting I am not alone.

Dell: Purchased $1M–$5M+ in stock in February 2026, followed by a public speech urging crowds to “go out and buy a Dell computer.” Intel: Multiple purchases in March 2026; Trump later posted claiming credit for $30 billion in U.S. gains on the stock and praised the company. Eli Lilly: Up to $680,000 in purchases while the administration advanced policies expanding access to its obesity/weight-loss drugs. That’s just a small sample of the stock trades being made. How is this different from congress and why do people like me on Social Security continue to wonder how we will make it until the next check while your portfolio continues to grow. Republican or Democrat, the only thing different is the letters being used.
