I photograph the beauty of our planet Earth and universe beyond. Fascinated with the aerodynamic, birds and rockets. Advocate for animals. Intrigued by AI.
My photo of the Hell Plain of the Moon, in infrared, from Oct 4, 2026.
Named after Maximilian Hell, (May 15, 1720 – April 14, 1792) an astronomer and Jesuit priest from the Kingdom of Hungary.
Maximilian Hell is about the most METAL name ever, especially for a priest.

If you want to help me help shelter cats, last year Gregory and I raised $10k for the shelter I got him from. I’m hoping to do more this year with his calendar sales! cosmicbackground.io/products…
Smile, it’s Monday!
Cownose Rays don’t actually smile. That face is just how they’re built - but I’ll take that energy. #MondayMotivation What made you smile today?
The California Nebula 📸
Here's an astrophotography target you can start this month! It's rising higher into the eastern sky each night.
This intense emission nebula lives in the constellation Perseus - and the Pleiades star cluster is not far behind.
This is my latest attempt at NGC 1499 using an ultra-portable camera and telescope rig in the backyard over 2 nights.
As always, I'd love to see your latest image of the California Nebula in the comments 🤓
