High speed line to Manchester and Leeds! It's a long way, so go for High Speed. That'll be noisy, better put it in tunnel past the nice houses. Spend all the money on tunnelling, end up only building a third of the length, so the speed advantage gives you about 5 minutes saved.

First time I've wholeheartedly agreed with J H-B
I have a driving licence to prove that I have passed a test to drive.
I have a passport to prove my identity and nationality when I travel abroad.
I don't need to prove who I am to anyone in my own country unless I choose to.
I refuse to have a compulsory digital ID card.
