A few months later my brother, who was also contracting for them, told me HelloFresh had shredded the contractor program entirely. They went back to temp agencies and in-house drivers paid the bare minimum. The contractors cost too much. Translation: paying a working man enough to cover his own truck, fuel, and insurance was an unacceptable line item. So here is the picture. HelloFresh will not pay its own drivers. HelloFresh will not vet its own labor—the Department of Labor caught children in their facilities in 2024. HelloFresh will burn through three temp agencies before they sign one real worker. And HelloFresh will then turn around and spend marketing budget on a Pride caption telling you which hole to load their box into. The company that will not pay the man who delivers your dinner will pay an agency to make a joke about your colon. That is the order of priorities. Write it down.

I share some thoughts on canvassing for the Alberta independent petition. Harassing or intimidating canvassers, or people in line to sign the petition, is illegal and won't be tolerated. The overall citizens initiative signature collection process is managed by Elections Alberta. I believe they put in place adequate standards to ensure that the information collected is protected. But some people won't sign because they fear retribution from the government, their employer, their co-workers, and even their friends and family.
